Deborah Hardy married John Portis Jr who sold the 200 acre plot that Deborah inherited and used the money to purchased land adjacent to his father John Paris Sr. When John Prortis Jr, died in 1704 his widow Deborah appointed Thomas Harris as her power of attorney to sell this land as she was moving to Pennsylvania.

Please show the marriage for a Deborah to a John Portis and where in his will it mentions children or even the words child or children,

You are wrong about there not being 2 John Hardy's. The 2nd died intestate 1706/7 and his inventory of estate was presented by John Johnson grandson of Alice Tucker.

Deborah was at least 21 when her father wrote his will in 1675 and unmarried. This is proven by the fact that no guardian was requested by John Hardy or appointed for her by the court. See: Deborah Portis, widow and relict of John Portis, Jr. to Benjamin Drewitt land in lower parish being a deed of gift from his father John Portis Sr., dated 6 Apr 1693 and the other 25 acres was bought by said John Portis Jr from his father on 8 Mar 1702 bounded by Thomas Tooke, Anthony Mathews and Portis Sr. and the main Swamp. 9 Feb 1704. There NEVER EXISTED two John Hardy's. only one with two wives, Olive Council and Alice Tucker Allen.

Deborah was still alive on 21 Nov 1704 when she appointed her cousin Thomas Harris to sell the land of her deceased husband John Portis Jr that he had been gifted and purchased from his father John Portis Sr as she was moving to Pennsylvania. John Portis had already sold the land that Deborah had inherited in her father's 1675 Will.

This is not the Deborah that married Bridgeman Joyner. There was 2 John Hardy's that had daughters called Deborah.

I believe the marriage date of 1713 for Deborah Hardy and Bridgeman Joyner is incorrect. The book quoted from has other errors: "Marriages of Isle of Wight County, Virginia by Blanche Adams Chapman"

Probably wasn't this Deborah Hardy, unless her birth and death dates are wrong. She would be 67 years old by this time. There was a son attached to her too, and there is no way she would have had a child at that age. It seems that it is probably referring to a younger Deborah Hardy. However, who is the John that is her father? Maybe the one that Eric referred to as dying in 1706. Trying to confirm her birth and death dates would be helpful. I will see if I can find anything.

The marriage between a Bridgeman Joyner and Deborah Hardy took place in 1713 and she was the daughter of a John Hardy. This question is "Which John"

There were two John Hardys with daughters named Deborah in Isle of Wight, VA at this time.
