Eliphalet Hardy was born in 1719/20, the son of Daniel Hardy and Martha Wilcom.[1] Eliphalet was grandson of Thomas Hardy, one of the first settlers of Bradford, with a large landholding in the section known as East Bradford (and later Groveland).
In 1738/39, Eliphalet married Hannah Platts.[2] The couple settled in East Bradford, on the homestead of Eliphalet's father, where they raised the following children, all recorded on the birth records of Bradford:[3]
Hannah, b. 2 Aug. 1750; m. William Parker, 21 Nov. 1771; d. 11 May 1830
Abigail, b. 23 May 1753; m. Jesse Atwood (son of John Atwood), 31 Dec. 1778; d. 12 Feb. 1832

Eliphalet passed away in 1799, at age 79[4] and was buried next to his wife (she died 13 years later) in Riverview Cemetery in East Bradford (now Groveland).[5]
