Biography

Joseph Hardy wed Elizabeth Floyd in Arnold Nottinghanshire on 23 September 1771[1] A son William was christened in Arnold the following year [2]

Research Notes

Joseph was in all probability not the son of Thomas Hardy and Mary Hendrickson. Their son, Joseph, was born in 1753, but died the following year. There is no evidence that they had another son named Joseph. It is also quite possible that Joseph was born before 1750 since he married in 1771 and would have only been 21 years of age if born in 1750.

There are numerous (at least 6) Joseph Hardy's who passed away in Basford, Nottinghamshire, England between 1838 and 1858. Basford lies between Wollaston and Arnold, locations both known to this branch of the Hardy family.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joseph by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Joseph:
