Hi Elizabeth,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Pre-1700_Profiles. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines laid out on that page.

Hi Elizabeth, welcome to the Wiki Tree family. I look forward to seeing your family tree grow especially because you have Shepard ancestors. Although my near ancestors are in England, my earlier ancestors are from the Carolina's so it would be interesting to see if we could find a link. good luck with your research. Paul

Hi Elizabeth!

Thank you for upgrading. We are so happy to have you here in the WikiTree family, your contributions will go a long way to joining the world together.

I would suggest starting with the New Member How-To pages, they will save you a lot of time and frustration. Don't be afraid to ask questions in our G2G forum and get involved as much or as little as works for you. Be sure to check out the tabs at the very top right hand side of your profile, there is lots to discover!

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

I am here to answer any question you have, no matter how trivial you may think it is. There is no such thing as a silly question. Please add as much information as you can, it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do!

I hope this helps! If you have any problems, let me know.

Happy tree climbing

Rhonda ~ WikiTree Greeter

Barbara, you posted a comment on Hardy-57. If you read the profile narrative and the g2g (our discussion forum) thread attached to the profile, you'll see that we are trying to resolve the disputes about his origins. You'll also see that his parents are marked "uncertain" - a wikitree practice when there is a question about origins. Anything you can do to help us resolve this uncertainty is much appreciated. We invite you to participate in the discussion.

Yes, I certainly would like to help you resolve the issue. I'm sorry I'm just receiving this note. I had no idea how to actually use the WikiTree, but now that I have discovered some of its great features I believe that I will try and learn more about it. So far as I know and I have diligently checked on any information for Thomas Hardy b. about 1605 in somewhere in England and arriving with Governor Winthrop sometime around 1632 here in America and settled first in "Agawam" now Ipswich, Massachusetts. He came with his first wife Lydia of which nothing is known, all of his children are of this union. He later married Ann or Annah after Lydia's death.

The book; Hardy and Hardie, Past and Present Author: Hardy, H. Claude (Harrison Claude), 1887- Author: Hardy, Edwin Noah Note: 1935

Is a well-known source for the Genealogy of Thomas Hardy and his descendants and tells us that nothing further is known about Thomas, where he was born, or who his parents were, therefore any reference to a Richard Hardy to being his father or a place of birth for him is complete conjecture without further documentation. The doucuments simple do not exist or have be lost.

Hi Barbara!

The initial email from us has helpful links that get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Research you’d like to share? Interested in how your family fits into the big tree?

  • When you confirm your email address, you’ll see a Volunteer option on your profile page. Click that and leave us a short message about your genealogical interests. A Greeters Project Volunteer will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

Welcome to the Family, we’re really glad you’re here.

I'm just discovering that I don't know much about WikiTree, and am just now reading your e-mail. Perhaps once I get the hang of this I can be of some assistance to the effort.
