Arthur Charles Hare, son of William R. Hare, was born 3 May 1871 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He married Maria Gordon Hughes and farmed in Tees, Alberta. He enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force on 29 Nov 1915. [1] He was a private, serving in the 89th and 10th battalions. [2] Arthur married in Calgary in April 1919, as his second wife, Helen Howe. [3] He died 7 June 1919 in Strathcona Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta of a duodenal ulcer. He left three sons, Terence G. Hare (1904-92), Joseph (1901-91) and Richard (1906-82). He was buried in Rutherford Cemetery, Earlville, Alberta. [4] Helen gave birth to their daughter on 31 January 1920.
