I looked up John Hargis on FamilySearch.org and added the 1850-1880 census links from there. I copied them in before I saw that you have transcriptions. That is a good idea. So I added source references after each census transcription. Even though FS profiles are password protected, viewing source transcriptions and original images is not. [This changed last month in December, but an account is free] You are welcome to go to change history and restore previous change or edit however you prefer. My additions are only suggestions. I attempted further search for marriage and death/burial. No luck. Interesting, tho, that son John Peyton and parents, William & Hannah have burials in Macon county. John & Parmelia may just not be in F-a-G yet or gravestones are lost.
