Biography

Beulah was born 6 Aug 1890^[1] in Stewart County, Tennessee^[2][3][4]. She was the child of Desmond Hargis and Mary (Shelton) Hargis^[3][5][4]. She married George Raymond Robertson, known as "Raymond"^[6], on 9 Apr 1920 and the couple had 5 children^[3][6]. Beulah passed away 2 Mar 1936^[1] in Bumpus Mills, Stewart County, Tennessee^[4] and was buried in Green Hill Cemetery, Bumpus Mills, Stewart County, Tennessee^[4][1].

Research Note

Beulah's parents, Desmond and Mollie Hargis were married 10 Aug 1876^[2] and had 12 children together^[3].

1900 census
^[5] is misindexed. The first name of the father was written Dezmond - see image. The father's age was clearly written as 43 (NOT 94). The indexer read the month/year of birth as 1806 and concluded that he must be 94. But the census taker had a wee problem with forming his 5s and the month/year of birth is actually written as "Aug 1856".

Hargis" born Stewart County. Mother = "Mollie Shelton" born Trigg County, Kentucky. Cause of death was flu and pneumonia. Informant was Raymond Robertson of Bumpus Mills. The body was buried at Greenhill Cemetery on 3 Mar 1936.

This book contains a history of the family from 1742 to 1980, much of it is unsourced but numerous wills, letters, and other documents are cited. The last six pages have a small collection of old photographs of some of the family elders. A copy is in the possession of David Fentress.
