Biography

He was the son of Benjamin Andrew Hargrave and Mary Elizabeth Sheffield. Ralph married twice. M1) 29 Oct. 1927, Harris, TX, to Frances Elizabeth Fite. They had two daughters; later divorced. M2) 29 Feb. 1936, to Lola Zelle Cannon. ^[1]

Ralph Porter HARGRAVES was born on 30 December 1904 in Waller County, Texas and died on 29 June 1986 in Harris County, Texas.^[2], ^[3] He was the son of Benjamin Andrew HARGRAVES (12 July 1873 - 21 September 1961^[4],^[5]) and Mary Elizabeth SHEFFIELD (30 July 1877 - 14 July 1966^[6]).

Marriage (1): He was married on 29 October 1927 in Houston, Harris County, Texas to Frances Elizabeth FITE.^[7] They were separated by the 1930 census record as she was found listed as divorced with their daughter in her father's household in that year. Interestingly enough, Ralph listed his marital status as widowed in that census year. It is believed that she was pregnant in the 1930 census listing (official census date: 1 April 1930) as they had a daughter, Geraldine HARGRAVE, who was born on 3 January 1931 [died: 8 December 2011].

Spouse (1): Frances Elizabeth FITE was born on 3 September 1908 in Fort Worth, Tarrent County, Texas and died on 16 June 1980 in Burleson, Johnson County, Texas. She was the daughter of Frank James FITE and Geraldine Effie SEWELL.

She remarried on 23 April 1946 to Eliga Stonewall Jackson SMITH.
