Biography

John was born in 1815. He was the son of William Hargrove and Susan Sturdivant.

Travelled in "western" states, Tennessee, Mississippi & Kentucky on business for his father in 1839. Served as aid-de-camp to Governor Charles Manly in 1849.

John married Charlotte Ann"Ann" Estes,Jan 16,1846,Granville,North Carolina.^[1]

John and Ann have one child 8 months before Ann's death in June 15, 1846.His name was William Triplett Hargrove,born Oct 18,1845.

1870 all of the child ,with the exception of William,Bettie and Susan,are still living with their father.Along with a woman by the name of May Pleasants. She is a school teacher.^[3]

John passed away April13,1900,Vance County,North Carolina.Buried in the Hargrove Cemetery.^[4]
