Sarah Ann, daughter of Daniel Harkins and Catherine Dougherty, was born about 1832. In 1832/3, Sarah came with her parents and 4 older sisters from County Donegal, Ireland to Caledon, York, Upper Canada.
On 28 January 1856, Sarah Ann (age about 23) married William Haragan (age 22), son of David (Horrigan) Haragan and Christiana O'Hearn, at the Gore Mission church. The witnesses were Thomas Lee and Alexander Doherty.[1][2] (Sarah Harkins was a niece of Alexander Doherty and John Dougherty both of whom married sisters of William.)
Sarah and William raised their family on the farm originally owned by William's father, David Haragan Sr.[3][4]
According to the Canada death record, Sarah died from old age on December 27, 1905, at the age of 73.[5] She was buried at Saint Cornelius Cemetery.[6]
Christina Marie Haragan, born 31 July 1869.[11] The birth date on her death certificate was given as 1 August 1869.
Catherine Haragan, born about 1870. No baptismal record has been found for Catherine, but she appears with the family on the 1871 census as a one-year-old child.[3] She does not appear on the 1881 census or any thereafter.
