Research Notes
André's HBC Biographical Sheet makes note of L'Assomption Parish in Lower Canada, but it is not clear if this location references birthplace or residence. No corresponding baptism record, nor marriage record for parents, has been located, at this parish or elsewhere in Lower Canada.
Some sources suggest that André's daughter Cecile Harkness aka Pilon is actually his sister, however Cecile's scrip affidavit lists her parents as 'Andrew Arkneys' (Irish) and 'Marguerite' (Indian).
