Biography

John was a farmer and Methodist. In about 1782 John, his wife, and four children moved to Lincoln Co., KY, a country that at that time embraced nearly 1/3 of that state. After several subdivisions of the county he ended up in Mercer Co. where he remained until 1818. He then moved to an area of Barren Co., KY which became Monroe Co. There he entered a tract of 200 acres near the present town of Tomkinsville.[1]
