Biography

Abraham was born about 1789. He was the son of Daniel Harless and Elizabeth Nash.

Abraham married, first, Catherine Link in Giles County, VA, 24 Apr 1810, daughter of Gasper Link and Mary Elizabeth Nosler.

Abraham married, second, 6 Apr 1820 in Russell County, VA, Lucinda Davenport (b ca 1798, d ca Oct 1882 Russell Co. VA). Abraham was accused of committing bigamy by marrying "Lucy Davanport" in Russell County while still married to Caty Link, but at a court in Russell County 26 Aug 1826 he was acquitted and released (Book 8, p. 207).

Abraham served in the War of 1812 and was awarded, but did not use, a warrant for bounty land. This warrant was stolen after his death and used by William Hawks in 1857 for land near Plattsburg, MO.

Abraham and Lucinda lived in Russell, Washington and Lee counties. Pension papers indicate that they also lived in Sullivan County, Tennessee.[1]
