Note N2175 NEWSPAPER ARTICLE: (24 Sep 1950) Sioux City Lists 3rd Polio Death. Arlen Amundson, 16, of Soldier, died of polio in a Sioux City hospital Friday night. It was the third polio death of the year at Sioux City. Young Amundson, who played in a high school baseball game Monday, was admitted to the hospital Wednesday. Two other patients were admitted Friday to St. Joseph's Mercy hospital, both in fair condition. They were Robert Fox, 19, of Cherokee, and George Harless, of Sioux City. They brought to 23 the cases under treatment in Sioux City hospitals.
