George Harman was baptized November 5, 1854 at Rotherfield, Sussex. He was the son of Thomas and Ann Harman.[1]
In 1861, 6 year old George and siblings, Frederick (14) and Kate (2), was living at Rotherfield with parents Thomas and Ann. Father, Thomas was a brick-layer.[2] 1871 saw George at home with his widowed father and sister Kate in Rotherfield. George was working as an agricultural laborer.[3]
By 1881, George was married to Mary and working as a carpenter. The couple and their three children - Rosa (3), Edwin (2) and infant Elnor - lived at Syndenham in Lewisham.[4]
