William Carleton Harnden was born on 25 Jun 1829 in Phillips, Franklin County, Maine, son of Ebenezer Harnden (1807 - 1874) and Deborah (Carleton) Harnden (1804 - 1872).
William married Eliza Lucretia Dow (1843 - 1910) on 4 Nov 1860 in Phillips. Their daughter was Edith E. (Harnden) Hinkley.
William died on 19 Apr 1898 in Phillips aged 68.
