Biography

DANIEL HARNEY (1830-1899)

Daniel Harney was born in Cam, Roscommon, Ireland (near Athlone) 14 June 1929. He immigrated to Boston, MA, where he married Mary A. Connelly on 23 Nov 1859. Daniel and Mary had two children born in Boston, then moved to California where another six children were born. Daniel was a well known street contractor in San Francisco. He died 11 Feb 1899.

On their marriage record it states Daniel Harney was the son of Daniel and Mary (same names as the bride and groom). Grace Frontin, a descendant, says they are from Camm, Ireland, per a missing friends article. In Boston Globe, "Lost Friends" Daniel is asking about his brother, Thomas, who sailed from San Francisco on the "Golden Age" bound for New Orleans, 10 Dec. 1859, vol IV, 1857-1860. Also the death record of his sister, Rose (1879, San Jose), says she is from Camm. There is also a brother, Michael, per Frontin.
