Ithiel's second marriage was on 20 March 1879, to Mary Mollie Thompson (1862-1893), daughter of Albert J. Thompson and his first wife, Sarah (Moore) Thompson. Ithiel and Mary were blessed with five children:
Obit: Ithiel Harney, 78 years of age, died at the home of his son, Clarence, in Mansfield at 10 o’clock, Friday morning. Mr. Harney, who was a carpenter, had been in failing health for some time and lived with his children. He made friends wherever he went. Mr. Harney is survived by four sons - Louis of Bellmore, Clarence, of Mansfield, and Cecil and Ray of Clinton; one daughter, Mrs. Richard Smith, of Attica, thirteen grandchildren and one brother, Randolph of Union Township. Funeral services were held at Farmers Chapel, Sunday morning at 11 o’clock, Rev. C. Ray Collings officiating. Burial was in the Moore Cemetery. - Rockville Tribune, April 23, 1924
