THOMAS MICHAEL HARNEY (1879-1955) Born in South Dakota, the son of John Henry Harney and Mary Ann Maney. His father was one of the first gold prospectors in the area, and later ran a livery stable in Whitewood. Tom homesteaded seven miles south of Alzada, Montana in northeast Wyoming, just west of the Little Missouri River. His brother Hugh, homesteaded just east of the River, each raising sheep successfully. Tom did not marry. About three years before his death Tom moved from the Alzada community to Prairie Grove, Arkansas, where he died 21 Jan 1955. He is buried in St. Paul's Cemetery, Belle Fourche, South Dakota. - From his obituary in the Belle Fourche Post.
