HARNEY, JOHN (1838-1925), Crannaghmore, Co. Roscommon, Ireland Christened July 1838, St. Peter's, Drum parish. John was the son of Michael Harney and Catherine (Grenham).

John Harney married in 1872 to Mary McCormack. Children include:

• Michael (b.1873), who went to America;
• Bridget (b.1874);
• Thomas (b.1876);
• Patrick (b.1877), who married Bridget Harney [the daughter of Daniel Harney and Mary McManus]:
• Catherine (b.1878);
• Mary (b.1880), who went to Chicago IL and married Emil STEINFELDT, in 1910;
• Margaret (b.1883), who married J. Higgins from Maynooth, Co. Kildare;
• John (b.1884); Daniel (b.1889); and
• Joseph Harney (b.c.1892), who died in 1911.

John and four of his children are shown as Household #11 on the 1901 Irish Census for Crannaghmore, parish of Drum.
