Their father and mother William and Catherine) with the remainder of the family landed in America in 1851. Mr. Harney (William) died in St. Louis, Missouri, just two weeks after reaching this country, and Catherine brought the children to Henry, Illinois, where she lived with her sons. Michael Harney was married in 1851 to Margaret Marnane. She was born in Tipperary 1 April 1834, and immigrated to America with her family when she was 16 years old. Michael and Margaret had six children: Catherine; Patrick; Edward; Michael Isaac, known as Ike; John; and Frederick Harney.
