Biography

This profile is part of the Harney Name Study.

William Harney (1853-1922) was born in May 1852/1853, in Pennsylvania. His parents were Irish immigrants John Harney and Rose Lenahan from County Roscommon, Ireland.

William was a railroad foreman and Colorado farmer. He died at age 69, on 15 Dec 1922, at Pueblo, Colorado.

He married Margaret (Hosey), in Tennessee. She was born Aug 1861, in Missouri and preceded him in death, at age 46, on 13 Oct 1906, in Colorado. They had nine children:

  • John Patrick (1883-1919);
  • Mary E. “Molly” m. Jeptha WITZEL;
  • Agnes Elizabeth (1885-1960), did not marry;
  • William Andrew (b.1888);
  • Adelaide “Addie” (Mrs. Wm. F.) DOMKA;
  • James Franklin (1891-1955);
  • Edward Leslie (1892-1957);
  • Ellen Nellie C. m. Robert J WALLACE; and
  • Walter T. Harney (1896-1985).
