Biography

William was born on February 15, 1868 in Marion County, Kentucky. He is the son of Zachariah Harp and Elizabeth Montgomery.

William was baptized as William Arsenius Harp on May 31, 1868 at St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church in Marion County. The Arsenius is misleading as every other record shows him as William H.[1]

Georgie Miles was married to William H. Harp on November 7, 1893, in Marion County, Kentucky.[2]

William H. Harp died of organic heart disease on July 30, 1924, in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky and was buried on August 1 in the St. Vincent De Paul Cemetery in New Hope, Nelson County, Kentucky. A memorial has been established on Find A Grave.

May 31, 1868 - Baptism - Baptized William Arsenius Harp by Rev. Peter Joseph Lacoste at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Birth date, 2-15-1868. Sponsor, Elizabeth Cissell. Parents: Zachariah Harp and Elizabeth Montgomery.

1870 - United States Federal Census - In the 1870 U.S. census, Zacharia Harp, 33, is living with his wife, Elizabeth, 33 in Raywick, Marion County, Kentucky. Living with them are their children Richd Harp, 8; Anna Harp, 6, Rosella Harp, 4; William H. Harp, 2. Also with the family is Bettie Martin, 14. Zacharia is listed as farming.[3]

1880 - United States Federal Census - In the 1880 federal census, Zack Harp, 45, is farming and living with his wife, Elizabeth, 46, in Raywick, Marion County, Kentucky. Living with them are their children Richard H. Harp, 19l Annie B. Harp, 17; Rosa Harp, 15; William Harp, 12; Benny Harp, 10 and Florence Harp, 5. [4]

November 7, 1893 - Marriage - Married to Georgie Miles in Marion County, Kentucky.[5]

1900 - United States Federal Census - In the 1900 federal census Wm. H. Harp, 31, is living in Chicago, Marion County, Kentucky, with his wife Georgia A., 26, and their children, Mary M., 4, May Harp 2, and James L. Harp, four months. He listed as a laborer. His family is living near his sister Annie B. Greenwell.[6]

1910 - United States Federal Census - In the 1910 census, William H Harp, 42, is listed with his wife Georgeama, 36, in magisterial district 8, Marion County, Kentucky. Also living with them are their children, Mary L., 14; May, 12; Annie R., 7; and William Z., 2. William is a laborer at a distillery.[7]

July 30, 1924 - Death - Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky.
