Fereba Ann Thornton was born on 3 May 1829, in Georgia, United States as the daughter of George Washington Harper Sr. and Jennie Whitney. She married Private James Jordan Thornton on 24 March 1850, in Coosa, Alabama, United States. They were the parents of at least 8 sons and 1 daughter. She lived in Marble Valley, Coosa, Alabama, United States in 1900 and Travelers Rest, Coosa, Alabama, United States in 1910. She died on 12 May 1911, in Coosa, Alabama, United States, at the age of 82, and was buried in Kellys Crossroads, Coosa, Alabama.
