Biography

Isabel Harper was born about 1594, probably in England. She is probably the daughter of Thomas Harper. She seems to have married John Pabodie. An abstract of John's will shows that in 1649 his wife was Isabel, his children were Thomas, Francis, William, and Annis Rouse, and two grandsons named John. Documented evidence for Isabel Harper is not easy to find. It is possible that she married first a Brittaine and married John Pabodie as a second husband. At this point it is unclear if John pabodie had two wives named Isabel - and which order he married the wives, or if he married a widow, Isabel Harper Brittaine.

A record of a marriage bond between John Paybodie of Noseley and Isabella Brittaine of Noseley in 1608 is found in Leicestershire marriage licences, being abstracts of the bonds and allegations for marriage licences, preserved in the Leicester Archdeaconry Registry, 1570-1729 by Leicester (England). Archdeaconry; Hartopp, Henry, Originally published by the British Record Society, 1910 [1]

At least four children born to the family. Thomas, Francis, William, and Annis (Anice) were listed in his will of 1649.

About 1635, the family immigrated to New England. They seem to have traveled on the "Planter". John Pabodie has been called "of Duxbury", Massachusetts. He died there and was buried at the Myles Standish Burial Ground about April 27, 1667. His wife survived him.
