Biography

Samuel Barker Harper was born 10 April 1777[1] to James Harper and Rebecca Cornish in Newtown, Queens, New York.[2]

He carried on in the grocery business in New York City as his father had done.[3][4][5]

Samuel married Christiana Arcularius, daughter of Philip Jacob Arcularius and Elizabeth Grim, in 1799.[3]

In 1842 they build at home at 45 St. Mark's Place in the city.[3][6]

Christiana died in 1860,[3] and Samuel followed her on 29 July 1862.[6] They were buried at the Moravian Cemetery in New Dorp on Staten Island.[1]
