Biography

Joseph's family moved to Lowndes County, Georgia in 1833.He married Nancy Holloway December 23, 1852 in Thomas County, Georgia. His family and Nancy's parents moved to Alachua County, Florida (Now Bradford County). Joseph built a large log hose and started faming on quite a large homestead. Joseph and his sons, all members of the Primitive Baptist Church build the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church across from the Santa Fe River. His son James Madison Harrell died from being overheated while working on the church. The whole family is buried in the cemetery thee.
