Biography

James was born about 1835, in Alabama. [1] [2]

In the 1850 US Census, he was 15 years old, and living in Marion County, Alabama. [3]

In the 1860 US Census, he is noted as 22 years old. [4]

In the 1880 US Census, he is noted as 46 years old, and living in Quitman, Brooks, Georgia, United States. [5]

In the 1920 US Census, he lived in Justice Precinct 1, Taylor, Texas, United States with his grandson. He is noted as "J M Harrell," and is 85 years old. [6]

As he was a Confederate Veteran of the Civil War, Co. I. 12. Miss. Reg. Rohdes (Rodes) Brigade, Army of North Virginia, he is buried in Texas State Cemetery, Austin, Travis County, Texas, USA, Plot: Section:Confederate Field, Section 1 Row:P Number:34. [7]
