Biography
Thomas Harriman was born in Yorkshire, England.
Thomas was born in 1858 in the village of Flaxon, a civil parish in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire, England. He was the son of Charles Harriman and Hannah Barwick. [1][2] In the 1881 census for Heslington, St. Lawrence, Yorkshire, Thomas is listed as a 22 year old single male indoor farm servant born in Flaxton, Yorkshire. [3]
In 1886, he married Sarah Ann Marwood in Middlesbrough [4] and they had 3 children, Sarah, William, and Lizzie. In the 1891 census, he is listed as the 32 year old married head of household in Middlesbrough. His occupation was a carter and his birthplace is noted as Flaxon on the Moor, Yorkshire. [5] Sarah died in 1891 following the birth of their daughter Lizzie.[6]
In the 1901 and 1911 censuses, he is listed as the head of the family working as a carting contractor / agent.[7][8] His wife Ada Jane died in 1913 in Middlesbrough. [9]
Thomas died in 1942 at 85 years old in Middlesbrough. [10]
