The 1850 Census for Bucksport, ME lists a Leonard Gross, age 40 and wife, Harriet, age 40. Aren’t these the same people? Is also mentions children, including Freeman. Perhaps Leonard is the son of Freeman Gross of Brunswick, ME?

Perhaps you are correct- although his birth record as transcribed:
Name: Leonard P. Gross
Event Type: Birth
Event Date: 25 Jul 1805
Event Place: Orland, Hancock, Maine, United States
Gender: Male

Father's Name: Joshua Early towns often recorded birth dates for townspeople that were born elsewhere. We can be confident that he was born 25 Jul 1805 but not necessarily in Orland.

Do you have any additional evidence to support Leonard as a son of Freeman? Thanks, Darryl

Freeman Gross was born in 1769 as Joshua Freeman Gross. He had a number of children born before and after 1810 but I haven’t found any birth records yet. Best not to link them since there is no clear relationship. My other links are from his children’s death records where they name the father and mother.
