William Harrington served for Louisiana in the War of 1812 Service started: Unit(s): Service ended:
William Harrington, son of Charles Harrington and Sally Ashley, was born about 1793-1796. His birthplace is given in various records as Kentucky, Georgia, and the Mississippi River area (river parishes of Louisiana). He and his parents and siblings immigrated to Louisiana in the early 1800s. As stated in the southwest Louisiana records of William Harrington, "Native of the river [Mississippi]", does not mean the state of Mississippi. It means he was a native of one of the Louisiana Territory's so-called "river parishes" along the Mississippi River. When the U.S. census was taken in 1850, the census-taker was told that Charles was born in Kentucky.
To English-speaking people, Harrington is a simple name, easy to spell and pronounce. In French- and Spanish-governed Louisiana, however, the name has many variations in early records. For example, the "H" was particularly difficult, and was often omitted, as in "Arrington."

He married Sarah Faulk on May 21, 1822 In St. Martinville, Louisiana.[2][3]
In the 1840 census eight children are accounted for. Their first born child, Marie, would have been about 16 and either had already died or was married. No marriage record yet found for her. The last 4 children were born after the census and show up on the census of 1850.
