Biography

Caleb was born on 3 June, 1836 in New York. He was the son of Caleb Harrington and Anna Kent. ^[1]. On 1 July, 1863, he was listed as a single male farmer in York Twp., Washtenaw Cty, MI^[2] Note: Walter Harrington If he was 25 at this time, then he was born in 1838 and his death certificate would have wrong birth year. He had been in the Civil War according to the Michigan state census of 1894^[3]. In 1874 Caleb Harrington had unknown acreage in sw 1/4 of Section 22 in York Twp., Washtenaw Cty., MI^[4]. According to the 1883/83 county directory, Caleb Harrington was on a 120 acre farm in section 22 p.o. Nora in Township York, Washtenaw Cty, MI^[5]. In the 1886 directory he lived at 22 and 23 Nora, Ann Arbor^[6]In the years 1888, 1892, & 1894 Caleb lived at 23 Milan, York, Washtenaw Co., MI on a farm, MI^[7]. In 1895 he is shown on plat map of York Township, Washtenaw Cty., MI owning 57 acres in section 22 with house, 60 acres section 23 and possibly 1/2 owner of 20 acres in section 22^[8][9]. Next in 1896, the Washtenaw county directory says Caleb Harrington is in section 23 with 127 acres assessed valuation of $5100 and $200 for personal property, York Twp., Milan^[10].In 1899, Caleb owned property at 22, 117 York Milan, Washtenaw Co., MI^[11]. In 1906, Caleb is still living at same location in Milan having 200 acres^[12] He passed away on 27 April, 1907.^[13] He was buried on 30 April, 1907 in Marble Park Cemetery, Milan, Washtenaw Co., MI^{[14] [15]}
