Biography

Bernard was born in 1891. He was the son of John Harrington and Mary O'Neil. He passed away in 1950. When Bernard Francis Harrington was born on May 12, 1891, in New York, his father, John, was 40 and his mother, Mary, was 37. Bernard was a member of the FDNY. In 1922 he married Mary Greene. It is believed they had one child, Dennis. Mary passed away shortly after his birth. In 1931 he married Bertha Rita Klopp Murphy. He became the stepfather of James and fostered three sons and two daughters with Bertha (Murphy) Klopp between 1933 and his death. During the WWII era Bernard worked for the Bethlehem Steel Shipyard in New Jersey. He died on February 28, 1950, in Nassau County, New York, at the age of 58. He is buried in Calvary Cemetery, Woodside, Queens, New York, beside Bertha.
