Biography

Ann was born in 1835 and Christened by her parents, Joseph and Mary Harrington on 10 Dec 1835[1].

In 1851 she is in the household of her mother Mary Harrington at age 16[2] along with her younger brother and sister, and a lodger.

Ann Harrington married Joseph Wiffen in 1854[3].

As Ann Wiffen she is on the census in 1861 with her husband Joseph, children Eliza and George, and her younger sister Mary Ann[4] who is now 16.

Research Notes

Mary was born in 1815 and her daughter Ann was born in 1835. No Halstead brides and grooms match, and the only Joseph Harrington married there prior to 1837 was born there in 1819, would be too young, and married Sarah Finch. The only Essex or Suffolk recorded marriage between a Joseph Harrington and a Mary during the period 1830-35 was in 1833 in Wivenhoe west of Colchester[5]. Another Joseph married a Mary in Essex during the same year[6] but he was a Herrington.
