Biography

J M Harris was enumerated at Fayetteville Post Office, Lincoln County, Tennessee for the June 9, United States Census, 1870. He was noted as born 1845-1846 in Georgia and a farmer. He had $200 in value of personal assets as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are female N H Harris and female M A Harris.[1]

J M Harris was enumerated as self at District 8, Lincoln County, Tennessee for the June 21, United States Census, 1880. He was noted as a farmer, born 1846 in Georgia and married as seen in this image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife N H H Harris, daughter Margt Ann Harris, son Thomas R Harris, daughter Susan E Harris, son Geo Nelson Harris and daughter Mary E Harris.[2]

James M Harris was enumerated as head of the household in ED 61, District 8, Fayetteville, Lincoln County, Tennessee for the June 1, United States Census, 1900. He was noted as a farmer and born April 1846 in Georgia. He had been married for thirty-one years. Also included in the household are wife Nancy K Harris, daughter Susie E Harris, daughter Mary E Harris, daughter Martha V Harris, son John Harris and daughter Flora L Harris as seen in an image of the original census.[3]

James M Harris was enumerated as head of the household at Petersburg Pike, Civil District 8, Lincoln County, Tennessee for the April 30, United States Census, 1910. He was noted as born 1842 in Georgia and married. He was a farmer on a general farm and an owner as seen in the image of the original census. Also included in the household are wife Nannie H Harris, son John W Harris and daughter Flora Lee Harris.[4]

James M. Harris was listed as the father of Flora Lee Eshman who died July 7, 1921 in Lincoln County, Tennessee. The mother was listed as Nancy Stevenson.[5]

James Harris was listed as the husband of Nancy Halbert Harris who died February 10, 1935 in the Lincoln County, Tennessee. The mother was listed as Margaret Crawford and the father Dr.T.U. Stephenson.[6]

James M. Harris was listed as the father of George Nelson Harris who died May 10, 1936 in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee. The mother was listed as Nancy Stephenson and the wife Georgia Crawford Harris.[7]

James Harris was listed as the father of Thomas Robert Harris who died October 24, 1950 at Coryell Memorial Hospital in Gatesville, Coryell, Texas. The mother was listed as Nannie Stephenson.[8]

James Matthew Harris is buried at Rose Hill Cemetery in Fayetteville, Lincoln County, Tennessee.[9]
