The Ancestry and Descendants of Burr Calvert, Alias Harrison, Alias Harris – of Abbeville South Carolina Family data supplied by Bob F. Harris, a descendant of Bur Calvert of Abbeville South Carolina

Generation No. 1

1. BURR CALVERT, hereafter referred to as HARRIS

was born 1728 in Northumberland County, Virginia, and died 08 Mar 1787 in Newberry District, South Carolina. He married MARY JEAN HAYNIE 1757 in Northumberland County, Virginia, daughter of MAXIMILLIAN HAYNIE and LURANAH FALKNER. She was born Abt. 1744 in Northumberland, Virginia, and died 1786 in Newberry District, South Carolina. Prior to moving from Prince William County, he wrote a letter stating he would not be buried in the family Cemetery so as to avoid offending other family members according to David Bell of Tomball Texas who found this letter among papers at Fairfax County Courthouse in 2002(hold me to this—I need to find what this document was-DEB). Among the Descendants of Burr Harris is the story that Burr’s Departure from Prince William County to Newberry or to Northumberland where he married Jean Hanie, was amidst turmoil and an apparent family dispute.
