Hi Again,

You've been a member for about a week so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions? Most of us have questions after all that information!

I want to help! Click my name, send me a private message or ask in the comment section of my page. Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

PS To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Hi Megan,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

The US Southern Colonies Project may fit your research focus. If not, use the Pre-1700 Projects list to see other possibilities. Review the project page to learn how to collaborate with the project members.

Have questions? Click my name, then ask in the comments on my profile.

Hi Megan,

Thanks for your message.

Chances are, if you got a thank you from me, it was during a Ranger shift.

There's always a ranger around somewhere (my slot is usually 09.00-10.00GMT Thursdays), but we also have a team of mentors available to help out, which may be an option for you until you get your confidence up. You'll find them as a drop-down option on the help tab (top right).

As to whether we relate, it could always be. I'm not massively confident on the DNA side of things yet, but I'm on gedmatch at H212719

Thank you for volunteering. You are now a full member of WikiTree.

Start with the New Member How-To Pages - they are really useful as you add profiles and learn your way around:

Let me know if you require assistance. I am happy to help. After adding my own family and ancestors I have found many cousins and distant ancestors here on WikiTree.

Hello Megan,

To Volunteer just add any surnames of interest into Tags so that you have one tag for each surname and location. By doing that, when you are confirmed as a full member you can then click on those tags, and you'll be taken to a page where you'll see other genealogists who are also following those surnames and locations. I really encourage you to explore the connections it helps you make. :-) Don't forget to Check the Volunteer Box. The button to click is at the bottom of the page says Add tags and Volunteer. It is rectangular.

When you have done that one of our Greeters will confirm you as a full member so that you can Edit your Profile and enter information into WikiTree.

P.S. If you ever get a "Page Not Found" error when you click a link in a WikiTree email, you can usually find a functioning link in the public comments section of your profile page.
