John Thomas Harris was born Jan 1875[1] in Alabama.[2][3]
In 1918 he is married to wife Roslie/Roselle and is living in Titus, Elmore County, Alabama and was described as being of medium height and slender build with grey eyes and dark hair and a crippled arm and hand.[1]
John and Roselle Meeks,[4] daughter of Elizabeth J. Meeks, were married about 1901[2][3] and the couple had the following known children:
Joel Richard[3] Harris was born about 1903 in Alabama.[2]
Cleveland Haris was born about 1905 in Alabama and died 07 Feb 1971 in Mobile, Mobile County, Alabama.[5]ref name=1910C/>[3]
William[3] "Willie" Harris was born in Alabama about 1909.[2][3]
Jesse Harris was born about 1913 in Alabama[3] and died 10 Feb 1951 in Titus, Elmore County, Alabama.[6] to James Harris and Rosie Greer.[4]
John died 09 Mar 1928 in Deatsville, Elmore County, Alabama and was buried in Cash River Cemetery.[4]
Research Notes
This is not the John Harris that was born on 5 Oct 1874 and who died on 28 Feb 1944 in
Birmingham and who was married to Ivey Pearl Harris.[7][8] This is the John Harris who is shown as marrying Mollie E. Meeks in a marriage record and yet who is shown living with Roselle L. Meeks in two census records. I am assuming that Mollie (who is a sister of Roselle) must have been a witness to the wedding and has been mistakenly entered into a database as the wife, as records exist of Mollie marrying another man.
