• Study of John Harris of Southwark Parish, England has brought this writing about John and his children; Robert, Thomas and Mary who was underage when her father died in Southwark in 1616. Thomas, as a first settler of VA owned Ware Run Plantation and past it to his son, Maj. William Harris, at the time Thomas died. Much has been written about Maj. William Harris. Robert Harris was my ancestor and had a son named Robert Harris Jr. who is also my ancestor. Confusion about two Thomas Harris' in VA has made research very difficult but my conclusion is that members of this Harris family are my ancestors, because they lived among several of my other ancestors and their descendants moved to other places together. These names are: Puckett, Walthal, Womack, Harris, Williamson, Jones and others. Some of these families also lived in Southwark Parish, England at the same time as John Harris and his children.
