Elizabeth was the daughter of Thomas Harris and Elizabeth Colgrove. She was christened on 31 March 1833 in Charlbury, Oxfordshire, England.[1] In 1841, Elizabeth was living with her family in the Chalbury Work House Yard. [2]By 1851, she was working as a glover while residing with her mother and brother, George, as her father had passed away in 1848.[3]
There is a marriage on Ancestry for a George Bolton and Elizabeth Harris 25 July 1859, Oxford Holy Trinity, Oxfordshire. However while the bride's father is cited as a Thomas Harris, he is also cited as being a shoemaker. This Elizabeth is cited as being a milliner.[4] The 1861 Census provides more information re this particular couple, George being 24 and Elizabeth 19 at that time.[5]
