John (or "Tom") was born in Cairns. In 1913 he was living in Lake Street, Cairns, and working as a saddler.[1]
John is buried at the Old Pioneer Cemetery, Cairns, in the same plot as his maternal grandparents, William and Catherine Green.[2][3][4] John was known as "Tom" (evidenced by a notice that his mother placed in the newspapers after his death thanking the hospital for all their work in helping him).

OBITUARY. MR. J. T. HARRISON. The funeral of the late Mr. John Thomas Harrison, eldest son of Mrs. B. Harrison, took place on Wednesday afternoon, moving from the residence, Sheridan Street, and was attended by a large circle of friends. The Kev. Father Doyle held a service at the church, atid also conducted the last rites at the McLeod Street cemetery.
