Captain William Harrison Jr. served with 2nd Battalion, Gloucester County Militia, New Jersey Militia during the American Revolution.

He was the son of William Harrison.

He was Captain of militia, company raised at own expense, in Col. Joseph Ellis' regiment during the revolution. He resided at Greenwich Twp., Gloucester Co., NJ. As a result of this service, he is listed as DAR Ancestor #A052311

He married:

  1. Abigail Thorne?
  2. Martha Bowlby, daughter of Thomas Bowlby. She was 19, and he was middle aged. It was his second marriage. From this marriage came children William, Thomas Bowlby, Joseph, Samuel, Priscilla, Mary, and Nancy Washington.

Research Notes

Who is Abigail Thorne, and is she actually William's wife? His grandson Joseph Harrison Jr. listed Martha Bowlby as William's second wife, but makes no mention of the name of his first.
