Biography
William Adolphus or Adolphas was born about 1841 to an enslaved woman, Philis (circa 1812-1890) of Rattan Estate, St. Croix, who after her emancipation was named Eliza Marcus in the marriage to his father (possibly, but unconfirmed) Ned "Edmund" Harrison (circa 1821-1865) of Salt River Estate, St. Croix, although no records establish the paternity.[1]
His wife was Cecelia Elizabeth Haynes. Among their children were:[2]
He died in 1891.
