Lenox (Harrison) Pilkington was born in Acaster Selby, Yorkshire, England.
Lenox Harrison was born on 6 February 1658.[1][2] She was the daughter and only child and heir[2] of Cuthbert Harrison of Acaster Selby, Yorkshire,[3] and Lenox Langdale.[1][4] Her mother died giving birth to her.[1]
She was baptised in 1658 in Stillingfleet, Yorkshire.[1][2][5][6][7]
Her husband, George Smith, passed away in 1681.[2]
Lenox married, as her second husband and as his second wife, Sir Lyon Pilkington, 3rd Baronet,[1][2][4] with a marriage settlement dated 18 March 1688/89.[3]
Sir Lyon Pilkington and Lenox did not have any children.[4]
Lenox was the sole heir of her father when he passed away in 1699.[1][4][12]
Lady Lenox Pilkington died on 17 July 1706[1][2][4] and was buried in the southeast chantry at Hemingbrough on 22 July.[2][4] Administration was granted to her husband on 22 April 1707.[2][13]
Her son Harrison predeceased her. Upon her second marriage, Lenox added a covenant granting her ancestral lands, except Turnham Hall which she left Jeremiah, to her husband and his children. Vicar Potter stated in 1750 that
Tradition yet says that she was ill-used by both her husbands, and for quietness' sake gave up all her estate to them from her own relations.[4]
It may be that she was aware of Jeremiah's excessive spending and wild ways and did this to protect the estate.[4] Either way, the lands passed on to other families.
It appears that her father cared very much for her. Before her marriage to Sir Lyon Pilkington, Cuthbert established a trust to provide Lenox with a separate income to her husband. Her father died the following year and Lenox's husband legally claimed her inheritance. He then abandoned Lenox but she was still entitled to the trust set up by her father.[14]

Lenox is not the sister of Burr Harrison. She was the only child and sole heir of her father Cuthbert Harrison. Cody-939 07:54, 20 May 2022 (UTC)
