James was born in 1877. He is the son of Angus Harrison and Joanna McDonnell.
In 1901, listed as Edmund, James Edmund, at age 23, was still living with his parents, Angus and Johanna Harrison in Sheffield township of Addington County, Ontario. His birth date was given as 4 June 1877, consistent with other records.[1]
James was married to Mary Ellen Fitzgerald on 1 February, 1904 in Erinsville, Ontario, and on this marriage record his mother's name is spelled correctly as McDonnell. [2]
In 1911, James and Mary E. were living in Camden township of Addington County, Ontario, Canada. With them were a daughter Mary E., 10 months of age, and James's father, Angus Harrison, age 84, born in Nov. 1826. [3]
There are online birth records for the first three children, two of whom survived early childhood: Mary Aileen (b. 6 July 1910) [4] and Angus Duncan Harrison (b. Oct 1911). [5]
In the 1921 Census of Canada, James E. Harrison (age 43) -- occupation, cattle drover (origin given as Scotch) -- is listed on Concession St. of Newburgh, Ontario with his wife Mary Ellen (age 35) and five children. [6]
James Edmond Harrison was buried in Assumption R. C. Cemetery at Erinsville, Ontario in Lennox and Addington County where he was born.[7]
Who he is not: This is NOT the James Harrison (wife Mary) who died in Kingston in 1922. That James Harrison was Anglican (Church of England); Mary was English; and they had no children in Kingston with them in the 1921 census.
