Ann Harrison was born in about 1805 in Lancashire.
Ann married William Baxter on 2 Jan 1820 at Farnworth Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. Both were of the local parish; William was a collier, Ann a spinster. The witnesses were Margaret Parr and George Parr. [1]
Their son John was christened on 29 Oct 1820 at St Helens Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. . His father's occupation was recorded as collier, and the family's address as Hardshaigh. [2]
Their son Edward was born in about 1822 in St Helens, Lancashire.
Their son Zacharia was christened on 20 Jul 1828 at St Helens Chapel of Ease in the parish of Prescot, Lancashire. His father's occupation was recorded as labourer, and the family's address as Eccleston. [3]
By June 6th 1841, they were living in Canal Place, Green Bank within the Township of Eccleston, Lancashire. William was a coal miner, as were his three sons. [4]
Ann presumably died before the 1851 census, where her husband was described as a widower. However there is no death registration that could plausibly be hers in Prescot (the registration district for St Helens) or in Liverpool. The closest match is an 1849 death in Wigan district, which matches a burial on 28 Nov 1849 at St Thomas the Martyr in Upholland, Lancashire of a 47-year-old Ann Baxter whose abode was Pemberton. Probably this is her. [5]
There is an Ann Baxter aged 40-44 living in Pemberton in the 1841 census. However the 1849 death seems not to be hers since she's still with her husband in 1851. I looked into the possibility she might have died and he might have married another Ann before the 1851 census, but there was no possible marriage for a John Baxter to an Ann in Lancashire between 1849 and 1851.
