Isaac was born about 1790 in Orange, New Jersey. The first record in which Isaac appeared as an adult was the Orange tax list of September 1811. He married Joanna Ward on 24 Oct 1812 in Bloomfield, New Jersey.
On 1 September 1814, Isaac enlisted as a musician in Capt. J. J. Baldwin's Company, New Jersey Militia. He was discharged 7 December 1814.
The earliest extant federal census for New Jersey is 1830. Isaac is listed with an adult female, 1 male under 5, 3 females 5-9, 1 female 10-14, and 1 female 15-19 in the household. The numbers, genders, and ages of the children match the children named in his and Joanna's wills.
Isaac was a carpenter by trade, and he had inherited from his father part interest in a sawmill.
He died in West Orange, New Jersey, on 24 December 1866. He wrote his will on 8 March 1864, leaving everything to his wife except the interest in the sawmill, which was willed to his son. On 19 October 1866, after the death of his son, he left everything to his wife outright. Isaac's will was probated on 14 Mar 1867.
