and the 1885 book starting at page 369: Harrison family appendix

OTHER SURNAMES HISTORICALLY DOCUMENTED INCLUDE: CUNDITT, CUNDICT AND CONDICT FROM WHICH THE CONDIT NAMES EVOLVED, AND WERE USED BY THE TWO CONDIT AUTHORS FOR INDEXING THE NUMBERED DESCENDANTS IN THE FAMILY GENEAOLOGY BOOKS (THE 1916 REVISED EDITION OF THE 1885 CONDIT FAMILY ASSOICATION BOOK AT THE INTRODUCTION AND AT THE INTRO AND THROUGH PAGE 13). The authors, note: "To preserve uniformity in the work, we have adopted the generally accepted form of spelling the name, believing that it will meet with approval." The also note: " No attempt has been made to trace the family name beyond the seas; as citizens of the United States we content ourselves with an expression of gratitude to the mother country for her production of our worthy Christian ancestor." Well, the internet has changed how we do family genealogy research.

CONDUIT AND CONDUITT ARE ALSO SEEN STEMMING FROM THIS FAMILY LINEAGE, AND NOW THERE IS DEEPER RESEARCH INDICATING THAT CUNDIFF MAY BE OF THE SAME LINES, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE LINEAGE WROTE IN ENGLISH SCROLL AND THE LETTERS F AND T COULD HAVE BEEN MISCONSTRUED FOR EACH OTHER.

John CUNDITT is one of the most noted spellings of this John, ancestor to America, HOWEVER CONDICT WAS ALSO CONSIDERED the ORIGINAL name too, from which the CONDIT LINEAGE evolved; and so is noted in early records of Newark, West Orange, Morristown NJ, and such is stated in the will of John CUNDITT. John's gravestone, marking his name and his sons and his grandchildren's' names is etched in stone as "CONDICT.
