Hi Jane,

Thank you for supporting WikiTree.

I am working on William^1 Spooner's child list and would like to be added the trusted list of the profile for his son, John. John Spooner (abt.1648-aft.1734)

Hope you saw my request.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you are able to provide.--Gene

Please remember that as part of your Pre-1700 certification, you agreed that you understand that "A user-generated family tree, such as an Ancestry.com Member Tree, may be based on reliable sources and may help you find them. However, it is never in itself a sufficient source for a WikiTree profile."

Hello Jane,

I noticed you are making merges. Thank you for you contributions.

09:05: Jane (Harriss) Naus merged Johnstone-826 into Johnston-6982

09:05: Jane (Harriss) Naus merged Johnston-6982 into Johnstone-1041

But when merging 3 profiles you have to merges into the final one.

The merges you made should be been as:

Johnston-6982 into Johnstone-1041 and Johnstone-826 into Johnstone-1041

Thanks,

Guy - Mentor / Leader

Jane and Phillip are 14th cousins once removed

Hi Jane, I saw a post on Steve Staley's page that you were having a little trouble figuring out sourcing. (OK so I'm a little late finding it 3 months later) I'd be happy to help if you still have questions. ;-)

Your long lost 14th Cousin

Hi Jane,

Thank you for the 'Thank you's' about the profiles I created for Angus Cotton and Juliana Jackson. They are on the far frontiers of my family, going back through Lohrman-Agle-Heinrich-Roeller. If they are closer to you, I would be happy to add you to the trusted list and/or have you be a manager -- you may be more likely to actively manage them better than I will! Tom

Hey Jane,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards .

If you need to describe an event, heirloom or a location relevant to your research, try Free Space Profiles .

If you run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving these unfortunate situations.

A project of note is the Global Family Reunion check it out at Global Family Reunion.

Questions? Ask via my profile page. Mags

Hi Jane,

Here is a video about merging profiles. It is short and very helpful.

We are so happy to have you at WikiTree! Don't worry, it takes some time to get all of the GedCom cleaned up.

We will work on the Johnstones more tomorrow.

Thanks!

Hi Jane,

It is very important not to cut and paste material from other websites onto profiles. We can rewrite the same information in our own words of link to the information.

The style guide shows how to use quotes for small bits of info and how to reference them go give credit up the author.

Hi Jane,

Welcome to WikiTree! I am your WikiTree mentor. There are a few important things that are different about WikiTree. We only have one profile per person. It is VERY important not to create duplicates. Sometimes we end up with more than one profile and then we merge them to make only one. We work collaboratively on the profiles.

Another thing is our naming conventions which you can read about here. We do not use prefixes in the last name at birth space such as "de". You can use prefixes in the current last name spot.

Please let me know if you have questions or need help. Just leave a message on my profile page and I'll be happy to assist you!
