John was a Quaker

Recent research in the Deep River Monthly Meeting records indicates that John's second marriage to Ruth Carlson occurred without approval of the Meeting. The minutes of 2 Sep 1789 contain the entry, "John Harrold offered a paper to the Meeting condemning his going out in marriage, which was accepted."[1] This notation also indicates that Phebe's death was earlier than the 1790 generally seen but not documented.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share DNA with John:

Howard, I believe that John and most people are fine with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints practicing as they wish. While placing baptism for the dead information in a profile may be fine for some, it is something that can be found distasteful by others including descendants who are members of the Society of Friends.

John: The LDS Baptism for the dead information is a historical FACT for this individual, however, has nothing to do with showing John Harrold as being Mormon or LDS. See this link for more information on that practice:

While in 1996 someone decided to show John as LDS; however, he was in life a Quaker and remains so today - regardless of what is shown- he was a Quaker and to show anything else is changing historical evidence!

John is 18 degrees from Claude Monet, 15 degrees from Gigi Tanksley and 14 degrees from Victoria of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland on our single family tree. Login to find your connection.
